Penumbra's New Fiction

The Unbeatable Deck of Ronan Shin is the first offering from Robin Sloan's experimental press, Penumbra's New Fiction: an ephemeral art + fiction artifact, written by Kiyash Monsef and illustrated by me. Kiyash wrote a short story of an adolescent friendship told through the lens of a strange collectible card game, and I created accompanying art in the form of a theoretical gameplay system represented by my ongoing ritual-based drawing practice, growth spells. Ronan Shin was available as a limited edition risograph newsprint with bonus art (sold out), or can be read digitally.
